Ravens' Marlon Humphrey didn't know he may have had interception vs. Raiders
Fans watching the Week 1 "Monday Night Football" showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders were sure they saw Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey nab an interception late in the first quarter, but Humphrey seemingly wasn't aware the ball never touched the ground and simply relinquished control of it without ever securing what could've been ruled a catch and turnover:
"I definitely did not know I had the football," Humphrey admitted Wednesday, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "That’d have been nice, to have an interception, probably the easiest interception ever. So I guess celebrate a little slower, I guess, would be the thing for that."
Interestingly, Raiders receiver Hunter Renfrow jumped on the ball after Humphrey dropped it to the ground, so at least one person involved in the play realized what had possibly occurred. It's worth noting, however, that nothing about these after-the-fact discussions guarantees an in-game review would've overturned the original call on the field, as the replay angles were inconclusive.
