The Kansas City Chiefs will have multiple dilemmas to resolve in the offseason. Among them, the Chiefs will have to decide on whether they will go all out to keep Chris Jones.

Jones is set to hit free agency in March. He signed off on a one-year deal with Kansas City in September. The agreement between the two sides did not include a no-franchise-tag clause.

Jones is widely expected to have a number of suitors line up to push to sign him in free agency. Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey does not believe that it would make sense for Jones to bid farewell to the Chiefs in the offseason for a few reasons.

"He’s gotta stay in KC," Humphrey said on his "Punch Line with Marlon Humphrey" podcast. "I’m thinking about if I’m Chris Jones, is it about money? … This is how I see it, you got a lot of money. You got Mahomes, ain’t going nowhere no time soon, really elite quarterback.

"You don’t have to take a super paycut, but you can sign a little friendly and just keep trying to ball out with that."

Over the years, multiple highly sought-after free agents have had to choose between signing a team friendly deal to remain on a competitive squad or going elsewhere to maximize their free agent value. Humphrey questions whether the latter option is always truly the best route to go for coveted free agents.

"It’s not always greener on the other side, when you go somewhere else, your team goes 3-14, I don’t know what’s that like," Humphrey said.

Jones tallied 11.0 sacks over 20 games played this year, including the playoffs.
