Ravens QB Lamar Jackson inactive vs. Bears due to illness

Tyler Huntley will start at quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens in a Week 11 game against the Chicago Bears after Lamar Jackson was declared inactive due to an undisclosed illness.

Jackson, 24, missed practices on Wednesday and Thursday due to an illness, but returned Friday and was removed from the injury report.

"I'm way better than I was a couple of days ago. I'm feeling great," Jackson said after practice Friday. "I probably had a cold. It was really nothing."

Jackson was added back to the injury report Saturday and ruled questionable for the team's Week 11 game. Now with Jackson inactive, the Ravens will turn to Huntley, who will make his first career NFL start.

Huntley, 23, was signed by Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and has made brief appearances in four regular season games. He's completed eight of his 16 passes for 54 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. In the 2021 preseason, Huntley completed 60 of his 83 passes for 551 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

The matchup against the Bears will be the third game Jackson has missed in his NFL career. He sat out a Week 17 game in 2019 with the Ravens already locked into the AFC's top seed and he missed one game in 2020 after testing positive for COVID-19. The Ravens lost to the Steelers, 19-14, when Robert Griffin III started in Jackson's place in 2020.
