Ravens safety explains versatile role in year two

The Ravens' 2022 first-round pick didn't see as much action as a rookie as he and many others probably would have hoped but safety Kyle Hamilton will certainly have a much larger role in year two.

"I think as of right now, I can do a multitude of things. I don't feel like nobody's trying to pin me at one place at this point," Hamilton told reporters. "Depending on the week, depending on the game, personnel, we might switch."

Hamilton didn't exceed the first-round expectations in his rookie season, posting 62 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defensed. However, he improved every week and will likely only continue to do so.

The 22-year-old's time to be the starter is here after the team traded veteran safety Chuck Clark earlier this offseason.

With a less crowded secondary, Hamilton will have the opportunity to make a difference for a team that has long prided itself on having one of the NFL's top defensive backfields and he believes he can do exactly that.

"I feel like I can slide into that role for sure and perform at a high level," Hamilton said on "The Ravens Lounge" podcast.

Baltimore is going to have to rely on its younger, less-experienced players after making Lamar Jackson the highest-paid quarterback in the league, but Hamilton seems up for the challenge.
