Ravens should bring back veteran CB

The Ravens' biggest need heading into the 2023 NFL Draft is arguably cornerback. However, they still need to address the position before the draft, and it could be with a familiar face.

Baltimore should re-sign free-agent CB Marcus Peters, who spent the last three seasons with the team and may be the best remaining free-agent cornerback.

Peters, who is 30, had 47 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and one interception in 13 games in 2022. It was certainly a down year after forcing 11 turnovers from 2019-20 but the eight-year veteran should still have some gas left in the tank.

The Ravens still need a cornerback to pair with Marlon Humphrey in the secondary and Peters could easily play that role once again on a cheap one-year deal. The available talent left is also slim pickings about a month removed from the start of free agency.

The move wouldn't keep Baltimore from drafting a cornerback either and it would give the team much more flexibility heading into the draft. This year's draft seems to have a deep and talented cornerback class and the Ravens could easily add to its already stout secondary.

It's understandable if Baltimore wants to get younger at the position but Peters could provide some much-needed insurance and depth to the Ravens' thin group.
