The Baltimore Ravens have re-signed former Steelers slot cornerback Arthur Maulet to a two-year extension, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

Maulet comes back to the Ravens after a strong season in the slot for the team. At 30 years old, Maulet became a solid run down slot option, and helped contribute to the litany of defensive backs that the Ravens had at their disposal.

Last year, the Steelers released him in May after not agreeing on contract structure and money overall. He played mostly as a run down slot cornerback but dabbled in playing as a three down slot cornerback whenever injuries would arise. In two seasons with the team, Maulet endeared himself both to the locker room and players on the field, and facing him will be a switch for the team.

In his tenure with the Steelers, Maulet racked up one interception, 4 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, and 106 tackles overall. The Steelers signed Chandon Sullivan during the NFL Draft and he helped replace Maulet. Patrick Peterson played in the slot, too.

And generally, the team never did fully replace what they had from Maulet. Instead, they used Minkah Fitzpatrick as a blitzer off the edge to try and be the run down slot cornerback, but it took away from what the defense could do as a whole.
