It is NFL Draft week at last!
On Thursday, the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft will take place and the Baltimore Ravens are scheduled to select at pick No. 30. This draft is one that the Ravens could go multiple ways with their first-round pick. Free agency has been an interesting one for the Ravens to say the least.
Here at A to Z Sports, we put together a full staff mock draft for the first round. Baltimore takes a player who fills a need for them and makes Lamar Jackson happier in the process.
Baltimore Ravens, No. 30 overall: OT Jordan Morgan, Arizona Wildcats
The Ravens opted to trade Morgan Moses to the New York Jets this off-season. On the other side of the offensive line, Ronnie Stanley is not getting any younger. Though Morgan played left tackle in college, I believe he could make the transition to right tackle if needed. Otherwise, the Ravens could view him as the guy after Stanley.
Morgan started 37 games at Arizona so there are no worries about his experience, as there are with some tackles in this draft class that are going to go higher. At 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds, Morgan suffered a torn ACL late in 2022 but did not miss any time during the 2023 season.
One nice thing about Morgan is that he may end up playing guard as well. He doesn’t have overly long arms but he is quick and moves well, giving him the ability to handle speed rushers off the edge at tackle.
As a rookie, Morgan could challenge Daniel Faalele for the right tackle spot if the Ravens feel he can make the switch. Otherwise, he is set to be the backup for Stanley, who notably misses multiple games each season. The Pro Bowl tackle has never played a full season in the NFL.
The Ravens have an interesting draft decision to make in the first round because instead of an offensive tackle, they could very well take a wide receiver here. Another position that makes sense is the defensive end position with Jadeveon Clowney leaving in free agency.
If Morgan lands with the Ravens, they have another quality offensive lineman who has the potential to be a guy at multiple spots across the offensive line, wherever they need him most.
