Ravens withdraw tender for Ty’Son Williams, making him free agent

As Kyle Ireland explained for KSLSports, the Baltimore Ravens announced in March they tendered six exclusive rights free agents. Among them was running back and 2020 undrafted prospect Ty'Son Williams.

However, the Ravens added former Atlanta Falcons ball-carrier Mike Davis to the roster on Tuesday. That decision apparently made Williams surplus to requirements, as Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk notes the Ravens have withdrawn their exclusive rights tender on the 25-year-old. Williams is now a free agent and can sign with any team.

It's unclear if he could ultimately return to Baltimore this spring or summer if he doesn't find a new football home elsewhere.

Williams didn't appear in a game during the 2020 season but found himself temporarily atop the depth chart last September after Baltimore lost J.K. Dobbins, Justice Hill and Gus Edwards to injuries. The Ravens eventually settled on Latavius Murray as their starter, though, and Williams finished the campaign with 185 rushing yards and a touchdown to go along with nine receptions for 84 yards.

As for Davis, he recorded 503 rushing yards and three scores on 138 carries with the Falcons last season and theoretically will be an upgrade at the position.
