RB Dion Lewis announces retirement from NFL after 10 seasons

Veteran running back Dion Lewis is retiring from the NFL after 10 seasons despite drawing interest from several teams, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 30-year-old was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft and spent two seasons with the team before joining the New England Patriots.

Lewis spent three seasons with the Patriots, winning a Super Bowl in 2017. He then spent two seasons with the Tennessee Titans before ending his career in 2020 with the New York Giants.

In 102 career games, Lewis had 567 carries for 2,425 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also caught 191 passes for 1,408 yards and eight scores. His best season came in 2017 when he ran for a career-high 896 yards and six TDs.

It's unclear which teams showed interest in Lewis this summer. However, the Giants could have possibly been interested in re-signing him because Saquon Barkley could miss Week 1 while recovering from a torn ACL.
