With all signs pointing to Luke Getsy becoming the next offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders, the reaction hasn’t been all that encouraging. That’s especially true for many within Raider Nation who had their hopes following the news of Kliff Kingsbury coming to town.

To say this past weekend has been wild would be an understatement. After Antonio Pierce became the permanent head coach of the Raiders, focus shifted to the OC opening. In fact, many feel as though whoever leads the offense moving forward would directly tie into Pierce’s fate. If the Raiders can’t score points, what then? Speeches and motivation can only go so far in the NFL; sooner or later, you have to score.

As far as this past season goes, it was a mixed bag; there was an instance of the team scoring zero. A record-breaking performance of 63 points came after that. For that reason, the Raiders sought an identity, and it seems that Getsy will be responsible for establishing it.

Reaction to the Raiders hiring Luke Getsy is swift…

At first glance, we can’t really blame Raiders fans for being disappointed. When you look at Getsy’s track record with the Chicago Bears over the last couple of years, it’s far from encouraging. You could even make the argument that Antonio Pierce and Co. downgraded from Bo Hardegree—it’s that bad.

Raiders alumni, namely Charles Woodson, have expressed their displeasure, which has been the biggest surprise.  The Hall of Fame defensive back appeared to be genuinely excited about the prospects of Kingsbury coming aboard.

As for Raiders fans, we all know they don’t mince words when it comes to their team.

If Getsy does indeed get the official nod, it’ll be onto the free agency period, followed by the NFL draft. Even more intriguing will be the quarterback position—are the Raiders sticking with Aidan O’Connell this upcoming season? Whatever the team does these next few weeks will certainly give some clarity, especially when you look at some of the veteran signal-callers available. For now, Getsy is the guy until we hear otherwise.

What say you, Raider Nation?
