The Denver Broncos filled a vacancy on its practice squad Tuesday, signing rookie cornerback Reese Taylor, according to media reports.

Undrafted this past April, Taylor joined the Kansas City Chiefs as a college free agent following the 2023 NFL draft, participating in the team's offseason program. He was released in August amid final cuts.

"Taylor played nickel corner for the Chiefs during minicamp and impressed while doing so," USA Today's Charles Goldman observed in May. "He tied Isaiah Moore with two interceptions, one during the first practice and one during the final practice."

A converted high school quarterback, Taylor (5-9, 188) played collegiately at Indiana and Purdue, totaling 90 solo tackles, 15 pass deflections, and three interceptions across five seasons.

"Despite his experience playing on the perimeter, Taylor will likely need to move inside, where his lack of size/length won’t be as easily exploitable," NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting profile. "He’s a better tester than player right now, as his timed speed doesn’t always match up with his game speed when it comes to making up distance on targets. He ends up making plays on receivers rather than throws, and that must change if he’s going to have a chance to land on an NFL roster. His special teams experience helps, but he might not be dynamic enough to make up for inconsistent cover talent."

Taylor is the third UDFA defensive back to be stashed on Denver's taxi squad, joining Art Green and Devon Key.
