Denver Broncos starting outside linebacker Baron Browning will reportedly miss several weeks due to knee surgery.

Per 9NEWS' Mike Klis, Browning — yet to participate in Organized Team Activities — underwent an arthroscopic procedure to repair a partially torn meniscus, and while there was initial hope he could return at some point during training camp, the start of the regular season now may be "in question."

Browning has been no stranger to injuries since entering the NFL as a 2021 third-round pick. He missed three games during his rookie year and another three last season, battling a hip issue and back spasms.

It's unclear when he went under the knife for his knee, nor what prompted the operation.

When healthy, Browning has shown to be a pass-rushing force. Converting from inside linebacker to EDGE full-time in 2022, the Ohio State product tallied 18 quarterback pressures, 12 QB hits, six hurries, and 5.0 sacks across 60% of the team's defensive snaps. He added eight tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and one interception.

News of his surgery surfaced moments after the Broncos on Thursday signed former Chiefs OLB Frank Clark to a one-year contract worth up to $7.5 million. Clark is expected to slide into first-team reps, working opposite Randy Gregory, for the duration of Browning's recovery.
