Report: Browns fear Pro Bowler Jakeem Grant may have suffered 'serious' Achilles injury Tuesday
The Cleveland Browns said goodbye to five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry in the offseason and saw him sign with the New Orleans Saints. Among the moves the organization made to attempt to make up for the loss of Landry was the acquisition of four-time Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.
Cooper has already been banged up this summer though and has a history of struggling to stay healthy. An additional potential new weapon for whomever is under center for Cleveland this fall is 2021 Pro Bowler Jakeem Grant, who signed a three-year deal with the team in March.
Grant suffered an apparent Achilles injury during practice on Tuesday though and all Browns fans can do now is cross their fingers.
The 29-year-old Texas Tech product spent the first five-plus seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins before being traded to the Chicago Bears in October 2021. Grant made Second Team All-Pro for the second straight year last season and earned his first Pro Bowl honor.
He has recorded one kick or punt return for a touchdown in every one of his six seasons except for 2017, has two seasons with at least 1,000 all-purpose yards and added his sixth and seventh receiving touchdowns in 2021 as well.
