Report: Chargers, Seahawks want to interview Joe Lombardi for OC position
The New Orleans Saints already lost offensive assistant Dan Campbell to the Detroit Lions. Now it appears another member of Sean Payton's staff may be on his way out.
According to Jeff Duncan of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks have requested to interview quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi for their vacant offensive coordinator positions.
Lombardi is in his 12th season as a member of the Saints coaching staff and his second stint in New Orleans. He previously served as an offensive assistant from 2007-08 and quarterback's coach from 2009-13. He left New Orleans in 2014 to be the Lions offensive coordinator, where he remained until 2015 before returning to the Saints in 2016.
Before entering the NFL in 2006 as a defensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons, Lombardi had stints at Dayton, the Virginia Military Institute, Bucknell and Mercyhurst, serving in a variety of roles.
