Report: Chiefs QB coach Mike Kafka drawing interest as HC candidate

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is a favorite to land a head-coaching position in 2021. However, he's not the only Chiefs coach drawing interest from around the NFL. 

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Chiefs quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Mike Kafka is expected to be in the mix for a head-coaching position next season.

Kafka is in his fourth season with the Chiefs. He served as Kansas City's offensive quality control coach in 2017 before beginning to coach the quarterbacks in 2018. Before joining the Chiefs, Kafka served as a graduate assistant for Northwestern and also spent six years in the NFL as a backup and practice squad quarterback. 

If both Kafka and Bieniemy land head-coaching jobs in 2021, Kansas City's offensive coaching staff could be completely decimated. Not only would the two coaches be gone, but they could take their assistants with them elsewhere. 

Todd Bowles, Brian Daboll, Jim Harbaugh, Josh McDaniels and Greg Roman also are expected to be top head-coaching candidates once the offseason begins.
