Daniel Jones is up for a new contract

The New York Giants have big plans to make with contract extensions before the free agency period. Reports came out last week that the Giants are prioritizing signing Daniel Jones over extending running back Saquon Barkley. Jones plans to make a major change before he signs his next deal.

Jones had a successful year with new head coach Brian Daboll during the 2022 season. The Giants made the playoffs and won their Wild Card round game at Minnesota. With Jones’ remarkable improvement last season, the 2019 first-round pick is looking to upgrade his representation.

According to Jordan Raanan with ESPN, Jones will switch his agent this offseason:

Jones was represented by CAA since being the sixth overall draft pick out of Duke in 2019. The expectation, according to the sources, is that he will be joining Athletes First in search of a long-term deal.

Athletes First is a prestigious sports management firm. Aaron Rodgers is one of the firm’s top athletes. Daniel Jones will hope that Athletes First can net Jones a long-term deal with the Giants. If Jones’ representation and the Giants cannot come to a long-term deal, it’s expected the Giants would opt to franchise tag the quarterback.
