Report: Devonta Freeman meets with Eagles but doesn't sign
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported on Friday that the Philadelphia Eagles welcomed former Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman for a visit.
Garafolo added that the Eagles might have simply been kicking the tires on the 28-year-old and could look to add him to the roster later in the season:
Freeman earned Pro Bowl nods in 2015 and 2016 when he rushed for over 1,000 yards in both of those campaigns. Injury woes cost him all but two games during the 2018 season, though, and he averaged a career-worst 3.6 yards per carry on 184 attempts last year. He rushed for two scores and had four receiving touchdowns in his final season with the Falcons.
Atlanta released Freeman in March.
Philadelphia held first-choice running back Miles Sanders out for the team's Week 1 showdown with the Washington Football Team, a game the Eagles lost 27-17, as Sanders worked to recover from a hamstring injury. If Sanders looks 100 percent against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday, the Eagles might quickly forget about the club's meeting with Freeman.
