Report: Dolphins sign three-time Pro Bowl OT Terron Armstead to five-year deal

Three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Terron Armstead is joining the Miami Dolphins on a five-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The contract is reportedly worth as much as $87.5 million with $43.37 million guaranteed.

Armstead, 30, was among the top free agents to hit the market this month after spending the first nine seasons of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints. The 2013 third-round pick took over as the Saints' starting left tackle in 2014. He earned three straight trips to the Pro Bowl between 2018 and 2020, but the streak ended in 2021 when he dealt with multiple injuries and missed nine games.

The Dolphins have been busy in free agency, adding defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, wide receiver Cedric Wilson Jr., and guard Connor Williams, among others.

Miami finished the 2021 season with a 9-8 record, but were 25th in total offense. The Dolphins allowed 40 sacks, 11th most in the NFL, and managed only 3.5 yards per rushing attempt, second worst in the league.

The Dolphins selected offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and started him in 16 games. He was among the lowest graded offensive linemen in the NFL on Pro Football Focus and Miami's line as a whole was graded as PFF's worst.
