Report: Falcons offer head-coaching job to Titans OC Arthur Smith

It appears the Atlanta Falcons were very impressed with Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who has been among the hottest head-coaching candidates this offseason.

According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the Falcons have made Smith an offer to become their next head coach.

Smith has served as the Titans offensive coordinator for the last two seasons. The 38-year-old would replace Dan Quinn, who was fired by the Falcons in October after an 0-5 start. Raheem Morris took over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season, leading the team to four wins en route to a 4-12 finish.

Smith was able to lead the Titans to have one of the best offensive units in the NFL in 2020. Tennessee ranked fourth in the league in scoring with 30.7 points per game and third in total yards per game with 396.4.

The 38-year-old joined the Titans in 2011 as a defensive quality control coach and has also served as the team's offensive quality control coach, offensive line assistant and tight ends coach before being named offensive coordinator.

Atlanta has also interviewed Morris, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator and now-New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
