The struggle to stay on the field for New York Giants linebacker Jarrad Davis continues, with the former Florida star now set to miss the entire 2023 season.

Davis was placed on the injured reserve by the Giants on Tuesday after suffering a season-ending knee injury during the team’s OTAs. It’s just the latest setback for Davis, who appeared in only four games during the 2022 season.

A former first-round NFL Draft pick out of Florida, Davis spent his first four years in the NFL in Detroit. He played his most productive football there.

Jarrad Davis started 45 games in four seasons with the Lions, racking up 305 tackles, 10.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, an interception and nine passes defended.

In his two seasons outside of Detroit, Jarrad Davis has played in only 13 games with six starts, recording 39 tackles, 0.5 sacks and a pass defended.

After leaving the Detroit Lions following his rookie deal, Davis spent the 2021 season with the New York Jets. He spent only one year there before inking a return deal with the Lions.

However, prior to the 2022 season, Davis was released and sent to the team’s practice squad. He was signed by the New York Giants on Dec. 28, then re-signed with the team this March.

During a four-year career with the Florida Gators, Jarrad Davis was a do-it-all machine at linebacker. As a junior and senior he helped lead Florida to back-to-back SEC East titles and appearances in the SEC Championship Game.

The talented linebacker recorded 201 tackles, 20.0 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception and nine passes defended in college. He helped anchor a defense that made up for some exceptionally poor offenses in Gainesville, Fla., at that time.

He was the No. 21 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, selected by the Detroit Lions.
