The Kansas City Chiefs have a massive punishment about to their head their way before the 2024 season. The Chiefs had to expect there would be a significant consequence stemming from a high-speed racing crash in March that included their young wide receiver, Rashee RIce.
Rice admitted to being the driver in the Lamborghini involved in the crash. Earlier in the month, he surrendered to police and faces eight alleged charges that could potentially land him in prison for decades.

Despite Rice’s legal troubles, he is participating with the Chiefs during their early offseason workout program. He worked out with quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Dallas before the team’s official workout started. Head coach Andy Reid said last week he planned to let law enforcement handle their job while Rice stays with the Chiefs.
The NFL is expected to punish Rice
In other words, the Chiefs plan to use Rice until someone tells them they can’t. That could be the NFL. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the league is expected to take action on the second-year wide receiver:
“On top of the legal issues and lawsuit he is facing, Rice is expected to be disciplined by the NFL, resulting in at least a multi-game suspension,” Schefter wrote.
Schefter didn’t add how many weeks Rice would likely be suspended. However, a multi-game suspension would be a massive punishment for the Chiefs and Rice.
The Chiefs will likely add a receiver in the draft
As a rookie, Rice was the best wide receiver on last year’s team. He was expected to be a big part of the offense alongside Marquise Brown. While general manager Brett Veach said the Chiefs don’t feel forced into taking a wide receiver early in the draft to replace Rice if he cannot play, they’ll likely add one to their roster this weekend just in case.
