Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Kyler Murray created a buzz earlier this week when he scrubbed all Arizona Cardinals references from his social media accounts. Most people speculated that the star quarterback was trying to send a message to the team, and it sounds like that was the case.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported on Sunday that Murray is frustrated with the Cardinals and was embarrassed over the team’s 34-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the postseason. The former first overall pick feels he was used as a scapegoat after the disappointing finish. Sources told Mortensen that Murray has come across as “immature” and a “finger pointer,” but it’s unclear if those were Cardinals team sources.

The Cardinals reportedly expect the situation to be resolved. Murray is eligible for a contract situation this offseason, but he will be under contract for two more years if and when the Cardinals pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.

Murray deleted all but two photos from his Instagram page. The two that remained (see them here) had nothing to do with the Cardinals. The team then appeared to downplay the situation with its own response on social media.

Murray threw for 3,787 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his third NFL season. He went just 19-of-34 for 137 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the wild-card loss to the Rams.
