Report: NFL records 37 positive COVID-19 tests on Monday

The NFL has thus far avoided schedule disruptions related to the COVID-19 pandemic this season.

That trend may be in jeopardy ahead of Christmas.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the NFL recorded a total of 37 positive coronavirus tests on Monday. That report came shortly after it was learned the Los Angeles Rams would be without cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Tyler Higbee for Monday's prime-time game against the Arizona Cardinals after they landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Rams already had running back Darrell Henderson, right tackle Rob Havenstein, and cornerback Donte' Deayon on the reserve/COVID-19 list as of Monday afternoon.

COVID-19 infections, many of which are linked to the Omicron variant, are impacting entities throughout the sports world this week. The Calgary Flames were put on pause earlier on Monday because of a COVID-19 outbreak, and both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are dealing with worrisome virus issues. The Miami Dolphins currently have no healthy running backs on their active roster because of multiple positive coronavirus test results, and the Chicago Bulls have had at least two games postponed due to having 10 players in the NBA's health and safety protocols.

Unvaccinated NFL players who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate away from their teams for a minimum of 10 days. Vaccinated players can be cleared to return to in-person work if they produce two negative tests at least 24 hours apart and remain asymptomatic for at least 48 hours.
