Report: 'Nothing has really changed' with Texans star QB Deshaun Watson
Houston Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson continues to face 22 lawsuits alleging acts of sexual assault and misconduct amid reports he has wanted to be traded since the conclusion of the 2020 NFL season.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, "nothing has really changed" with Watson's situation in that the Texans haven't actively pursued dealing him, and there is no sign the attorneys involved in the lawsuits are close to reaching a settlement agreement.
Watson has been linked with the Philadelphia Eagles in trade rumors, but it seems unlikely any team would relinquish assets for the 25-year-old without knowing if he will be available to play this fall. He could be suspended under the the NFL's personal conduct policy or placed on the commissioner's exempt list. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported during the NFL Draft at least some around the league believe Watson won't play this year.
MMQB's Albert Breer said last week he thinks Watson will begin training camp on the commissioner's exempt list as he remains under criminal investigation.
