Report: Packers, All-Pro WR Davante Adams haven't talked contract since end of season

While the unknown future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been the biggest story hovering over the Green Bay Packers, it shouldn't be forgotten that Green Bay All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams made it clear last July he would not offer the Packers any type of hometown discount on his next contract.

Rodgers told "The Pat McAfee Show" that "there will be no decision about my future" on the final Tuesday of February, and Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel later reported the Packers and Adams haven't discussed a new deal since the end of this past season.

The franchise tag window opened Tuesday and runs through March 8. Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Adams would earn around $19 million if he played the 2022 season on the franchise tag.

According to ESPN stats, Adams finished the 2021 campaign second in the league with 123 receptions, tied for second with 169 targets, third with 1,553 receiving yards and fifth with 11 touchdown catches. The 29-year-old has only played for the Packers since joining them via the second round of the 2014 draft, but some have speculated that Adams and Rodgers could be a package deal to go elsewhere if the signal-caller elects to force an exit from Green Bay via a trade that cannot officially be executed until after the new league year begins next month.

It's also assumed Adams will look to join a different club if Rodgers retires this offseason.
