Report: Raiders interviewing former Bears DC Sean Desai for same role

The Chicago Bears filled their vacant defensive coordinator role on Wednesday by hiring former Indianapolis Colts defensive backs/safeties coach Alan Williams. Now, Williams' predecessor in Chicago is reportedly set for an interview in Las Vegas.

Desai's coaching career began with five seasons as Temple's defense/special teams coach from 2006 to 2010, and he stayed in the college game for two more years with Miami and Boston College in 2011 and 2012, respectively. He served as the Hurricanes' assistant director of football operations and was the Eagles' running backs/special teams coach.

Desai then spent six years as the Bears' defensive quality control coach from 2013 to 2018 and was the team's safeties coach in 2019 and 2020. The 2021 campaign was the 38-year-old's lone year as Chicago's defensive coordinator.

The Raiders are coming off a 10-7 regular season and their first playoff appearance in five years. They fell to the AFC-champion Cincinnati Bengals in the wild-card round and recently hired Josh McDaniels as their new head coach.
