The Las Vegas Raiders shelled out an enormous amount of money after they acquired Davante Adams in a trade on Thursday, and they are looking to spend a lot more.

The Raiders are making a strong push to sign star cornerback Stephon Gilmore, according to multiple reports. Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal says it “won’t be for lack of trying” if the Raiders don’t sign Gilmore.

Gilmore began last season with the New England Patriots. He sat out several games due to a combination of a quad injury and a contract dispute. He was then traded to the Carolina Panthers, where he had two interceptions in eight games.

While he will turn 32 in September, Gilmore remains one of the best cover corners in the NFL when healthy. He’s a five-time Pro Bowler who was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.

The Raiders pulled off a shocker on Thursday when they landed Adams in a trade with the Green Bay Packers. They then signed the All-Pro receiver to a huge contract extension. New head coach Josh McDaniels is clearly committed to keeping up with the rest of the AFC West, which has quickly become the strongest division in the NFL.
