Los Angeles Rams cornerback Derion Kendrick was arrested less than 12 hours after helping lead his team to a 26-9 Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.

According to TMZ Sports, Kendrick was pulled over for a traffic violation in Los Angeles early Monday morning. During the stop, police found a gun in the 23-year-old’s car. Kendrick was booked into jail at 2:14 a.m. PT on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon. As of 2:30 p.m. PT, Kendrick remained in custody.

“We’re continuing to gather more information on that,” head coach Sean McVay said. “Until then, I’m gonna just kind of leave it at that until I have all the appropriate information. I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to speak on things that I don’t have the totality of it, other than knowing that he was arrested early this morning, and that’s kind of where we’re kind of at at that.”

McVay didn’t reveal if Kendrick would practice this week or play in Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Derion Kendrick finds himself in trouble again

Kendrick, the 2022 sixth-round pick out of Georgia, played 71 snaps and recorded two tackles in the victory over Arizona. He has started all six games for the Rams this season, posting 25 tackles (20 solo), two tackles for loss and three passes defended. Kendrick suited up in 15 games (six starts) during his rookie campaign, compiling 43 tackles (36 solo) and four passes defended.

Kendrick was previously arrested back in March 2021 and charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun. Police found him sleeping in his car at around 3 a.m. with a gun in his lap. He was also issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana. Kendrick left the program in February that year and entered the transfer portal.

He transferred to Georgia ahead of his senior season. In 15 games, he recorded 41 tackles (24 solo) with four interceptions and three passes defended. Kendrick helped lead Georgia to a National Championship Game victory over Alabama.
