Report: Rams reunite with CB Troy Hill via trade with Browns

A year after cornerback Troy Hill left the Los Angeles Rams and joined the Cleveland Browns in free agency, he's headed back to his old stomping grounds.

According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, the Rams acquired Hill in a trade with the Browns on Saturday in a deal that will send a 2023 fifth-round pick to Cleveland.

Hill, 30, began his career as an undrafted free agent and spent most of his rookie season in 2015 with the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots. In the final week of his first season, the Rams claimed Hill off waivers and he earned a spot on the final roster a year later. After spending much of his career as a backup with spot starts, Hill stepped into the starting lineup full-time in 2020 and finished the year with a pair of pick-sixes.

In his only season with Cleveland after signing a four-year, $24 million deal, Hill started just four games.

Earlier in the offseason, the Browns locked down cornerback Denzel Ward on a five-year, $100.5 million contract extension. On Friday, Cleveland drafted Mississippi State cornerback Martin Emerson in the third round.
