Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Dolphins rookie sensation De’Von Achane suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s win over the New York Giants, and he is expected to be sidelined in Week 6 and beyond.

Achane is likely to miss multiple weeks, according to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. There is a chance the speedster could be placed on injured reserve, but Rapoport added that Achane is not believed to be facing a “prolonged absence.”

Achane left Miami’s 31-16 win in the fourth quarter on Sunday after his right leg bent awkwardly underneath him when he was tackled.

While the Dolphins have plenty of playmakers to turn to with Achane out, the injury is a big disappointment after the way the former Texas A&M star exploded onto the scene over the past three weeks. Achane was inactive in Week 1 and got just two touches in Week 2. He has since been one of the most exciting players in the NFL.

Achane ran for 203 yards on 18 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns in Miami’s blowout win over the Denver Broncos in Week 3. He added four catches for 30 yards and another two receiving touchdowns. The speedster then proved the performance was not a fluke by rushing for 101 yards in a Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills and 151 yards on Sunday against the Giants.

In the four games he has played, Achane is averaging an absurd 12.1 yards per carry. He and Tyreek Hill already have a hilarious rivalry over their speed.
