The New York Jets have had a disappointing and tumultuous season, but a new report suggests it will not cost the team’s top decision-makers their jobs.

Jets owner Woody Johnson has offered no indication that he plans to fire coach Robert Saleh or general manager Joe Douglas, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is also considered likely to return.

Under normal circumstances, this would be a bit of a surprise. Saleh is just 16-32 as head coach of the Jets. However, he and Douglas will seemingly get a pass for the 2023 season after quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear four snaps into the year.

Rodgers firmly endorsed both Saleh and Douglas in his weekly interview with “The Pat McAfee Show,” which cannot have hurt their cases.

While no one blames Saleh for Rodgers’ injury, he has faced some criticism over how he has handled the quarterback position this season.

He and Douglas will probably need to be competitive next year with Rodgers healthy or they may not get another reprieve.
