The New Orleans Saints are entering a year of major transition, but they may have some consistency at quarterback in 2022.

Jameis Winston is recovering from a torn ACL suffered on Oct. 31. He is a free agent, but reports say the Saints may want to bring him back.

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reported in a column published on Monday that the Saints appear to be comfortable with the possibility of Winston returning.

New Orleans is losing head coach Sean Payton, who is taking time away from football. Dennis Allen, who was previously their defensive coordinator, will be the head coach. The team is also working to restructure contracts in order to free up salary cap space.

Bringing Winston back seems like it would make sense for the team.

The 28-year-old quarterback is already running, which is a good sign about his availability for training camp.

In seven games before getting injured, Winston passed for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions.
