Xavier Worthy. Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft, and it is safe to say they fulfilled his wish in doing so.

Worthy was extensively linked to the Chiefs prior to the draft, and that was no mistake. That interest, as it turns out, was very much mutual.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter relayed Friday that Worthy had jokingly asked his agent if it was possible to inform the other 31 NFL teams that he specifically wanted to go to the Chiefs.

Worthy made it pretty clear before the draft that he would love to land with the Chiefs. Still, this went a bit beyond being a preference and more along the lines of an absolutely desperate goal.

It’s safe to say Worthy, who broke the NFL Combine 40-yard time record, is thrilled with his ultimate landing spot. Plenty of others are not feeling the same way about it.
