Report shows stark difference between Justin Fields, Zach Wilson

Zach Wilson's comments following his performance Sunday continue to age worse than his actual play following a report from Albert Breer that contrasts Wilson's behavior with that of fellow 2021 draftee Justin Fields.

The Chicago Bears lost to the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 on Sunday. Breer's tweet that Fields took the blame for the team's loss and apologized to the defense is a stark difference from how Wilson handled being at fault for the Jets' loss to New England.

"No," replied Wilson when asked if he thought the offense let down the defense in a 10-3 loss. His comment drew immediate backlash and hasn't looked any better in hindsight.

A couple of throws from Sunday's game show Wilson should be on his hands and knees begging for forgiveness, not dismissing his obvious struggles.

This throw in particular was egregious.

Wilson missed the equivalent of a free-path layup in basketball by severely overthrowing wide receiver Braxton Berrios.

The following compilation is a sampling of Wilson's lowlights against New England.

Next Gen Stats posted a video of one play Sunday from Fields where the QB went above and beyond in willing the offense to a first down on a third-and-12.

While Fields isn't finding success in the win column, he's the most improved player in football over the course of the season. After struggling to begin 2022, Fields has put up historic numbers since.

As we mentioned earlier, the two quarterbacks were drafted in 2021 with the Jets selecting Wilson second overall and Fields going to the Bears at 11th overall. If given a chance at a redo, there's little doubt the Jets (and 31 other teams) would take Fields over Wilson.

This past Sunday, the Bears' defense held Atlanta to 280 yards. The Jets allowed 297 yards to New England. Fields admitted after the game he and the offense should have done more -- despite scoring 24 points and making a great play. Wilson shrugged at criticism over an offensive performance that resulted in 103 yards and three points.

Fields and Wilson are on diverging paths. The gap between the two is significant on the field and even larger off it.
