The Pittsburgh Steelers have been making headlines recently with their announcement of Arthur Smith as the new offensive coordinator. However, it seems they are not done yet, as they are actively looking to expand their coaching staff.

In a recent report by Sports Illustrated, it was revealed that the Steelers are in discussions with three potential candidates to join their coaching roster.

Steelers Exploring Three Candidates For Offensive Staff

Sports Illustrated reported on Saturday that the Steelers are going to be exploring three more candidates to potentially add to their offensive coaching staff.

“The Steelers are set to meet with Los Angeles Chargers passing game specialist Tom Arth, Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Charles London and New York Jets wide receivers coach Zach Azzani, according to league sources.”

One of the candidates on the Steelers' radar is Tom Arth, who has made a name for himself as a passing game specialist with the Los Angeles Chargers. Arth's impact on the Chargers' passing game was remarkable, despite the team's overall performance.

In his first season with the Chargers, he played a pivotal role in helping Justin Herbert achieve record-breaking success. The Chargers' passing game, under Arth's guidance, ranked third in the entire NFL in 2022. His expertise in refining passing strategies could bring a valuable edge to the Steelers' offensive game plan.

Charles London is another coach reportedly being considered by the Steelers. London has a wealth of experience coaching in the NFL. He began his coaching journey with the Houston Texans, where he served as the running backs coach from 2014 to 2017. He later moved on to the Chicago Bears, maintaining his excellence as a running backs coach from 2018 to 2020.

In 2021, London joined the Atlanta Falcons as the quarterbacks coach, showcasing his adaptability within the coaching ranks. Since the 2023 season, he has been contributing to the Tennessee Titans as both the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. The Titans fired London as they have continued their coaching staff purge. London's versatile background and extensive NFL knowledge make him a compelling candidate to strengthen the Steelers' coaching staff.

Zach Azzani rounds out the trio of potential candidates. Currently serving as the wide receiver coach for the New York Jets, Azzani brings an impressive 26 years of coaching experience at both the college and NFL levels. With a focus on coaching wide receivers, he has honed his skills and knowledge to a high level. Azzani's expertise could be a valuable asset to the Steelers, especially for developing their receiving corps.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin has made it abundantly clear that change is on the horizon for the team. The addition of Smith as offensive coordinator, along with the reported pursuit of these three highly qualified coaching candidates, is evidence of the Steelers' commitment to revitalizing their coaching staff. As Steeler Nation eagerly awaits the 2024 season, one thing is certain: there will be significant changes in store, promising an exciting chapter in the Steelers' journey.
