Report: Suspended Cardinals LB Daryl Washington continued to violate league policies

An indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy doesn’t appear to have had much effect on Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington’s behavior.

ProFootballTalk reported Sunday via a report from FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer that the inside linebacker “has 'continued to have violations’ of the league’s drug policy while he’s suspended.”

While Glazer didn’t get into the specifics of the violations, “there are concerns that (Washington's) ‘career may be over.’”

Last week, Kent Somers of AZCentral reported that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell commented on Washington’s status in a radio interview with Arizona Sports 98.7 FM:

“We have professionals that work on it. They make determinations. They work with individuals who are in the program and they make recommendations to both the NFLPA and the NFL. I am not directly involved with that, but I am aware that his status is unchanged and will remain so until the professionals are prepared to move that forward.”

The NFL handed down the suspension back in May 2014. Washington was eligible for reinstatement back in March, and questions arose when a return didn't happen and the NFL wouldn't comment on the issue, Somers reported back over the summer. The most recent report opens up questions as to whether it was apparent back then that Washington had already committed these violations.

If Washington does return to the league at some point, he would still be facing "additional discipline" due to these continued violations.
