Report: Texans have 'no indecision whatsoever' on taking QB with No. 2 pick

The Houston Texans are reportedly set on what they want to do with the No. 2 overall pick in Thursday's NFL Draft, according to former longtime beat writer John McClain.

The Carolina Panthers are widely expected to choose quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall selection on Thursday.

As noted by McClain -- who retired recently after decades of covering Houston-area teams -- while the Texans are "desperate" for an edge rusher, they're also in dire need of a quarterback.

Houston currently has Davis Mills as the No. 1 signal-caller on their depth chart with journeyman Case Keenum projected as the backup. Mills regressed in his second season last year, posting a 61.0% completion percentage for 3,118 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and a league-leading 15 interceptions across 15 games, while recording a 78.8 quarterback rating.

Keenum is 35 years old and played in just two games last year with the Buffalo Bills, taking 24 offensive snaps.

McClain added that if Caserio and company were to select Levis, the Indianapolis Colts -- another franchise in need of a quarterback -- would take former Ohio State signal-caller C.J. Stroud with the fourth pick.

Levis finished last season with Kentucky with a 65.4% completion percentage for 2,406 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He led the SEC in interceptions (13) during the 2021 campaign and ranked third in the conference last season.
