Report: Texans rejected offer of three first-round picks, three third-round picks for Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans have set a hefty asking price for Deshaun Watson. They could've received a lot for the veteran quarterback.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports (h/t Pro Football Talk), the Texans were offered three first-round picks and three third-round picks for Watson before the draft. Houston declined.

Glazer added that four teams were interested in Watson and that most of them have dropped out. The Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers had been linked to the Clemson product throughout the offseason.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Texans asked teams for a six-piece package of players and draft picks to trade their franchise quarterback during the offseason. No team is interested in meeting Houston's asking price for Watson unless conditions are attached to draft picks included in a deal due to the quarterback's legal issues, Schefter added.

Watson requested a trade out of Houston following the 2021 campaign. However, he's currently facing 22 civil lawsuits from women alleging sexual assault and inappropriate behavior, so it has been challenging to find a trade partner with the situation not yet settled.

The Texans are starting Tyrod Taylor at quarterback this year as the franchise is reportedly keeping Watson away from the rest of the team. Regardless, Watson will make $10.5 million in 2021 whether he plays or not.
