The Houston Texans are expanding their cornerback search beyond traditional avenues.

According to reports from KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson, the Texans are set to host Canadian Football League standout Qwan’tez Stiggers for a pre-draft visit this week.

Despite not playing college football, the 22-year-old is eligible for the 2024 draft and has garnered attention after his impressive performances in other football leagues.

Stiggers, who took a hiatus from football after his father's tragic passing in a car accident in 2020, returned to the sport upon his mother's encouragement and made a notable impact in the Fan-Controlled Football League in 2022.

With a standout season for the Toronto Argonauts in 2023, including winning the CFL’s Outstanding Rookie Award, Stiggers has proven his ability on the field.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 197 pounds, he showcased his athleticism with a 4.45 40-yard dash at his Pro Day and has attracted interest from multiple NFL teams, including the Detroit Lions.

Now, Stiggers seeks to carve out a place in history as one of the few players in the modern era drafted into the NFL without collegiate experience.

The Texans, meanwhile, are still in search of some cornerback help despite signing former No. 3 pick Jeff Okudah and are still thought to be in the market at the position in next month's NFL Draft.

And if Stiggers impresses the Texans during his visit, he very well could be under consideration.
