As Tom Brady weighs his options for where he’ll play in 2020, the future Hall of Fame quarterback is reportedly also thinking about the future with a desire to make an impact on the game when he retires.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Brady will hit free agency this offseason and weigh all of his options that give him an opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl. He also reportedly wants the chance to mentor a young quarterback, helping the organization in the future.

Brady will surely attract interest from several NFL contenders. While he is coming off a disappointing season by his own standards, Brady threw for 4,057 yards this season with 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. Those numbers came with one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL.

It’s particularly interesting that Brady wants to mentor a young quarterback. He’ll be 43 entering the 2020 season, and the team that signs him will likely want to consider its long-term plans.

The future Hall of Famer’s eagerness to mentor his eventual heir could be another great selling point to teams interested in him. Given his unmatched football intelligence and a remarkable mastery of the game, Brady could serve as the perfect coach for a rookie quarterback.

Given Brady’s track record, his leadership and talent, it won’t be surprising if he is the most coveted free agent pursued by teams this offseason.
