Reporter provides insight into Stefon Diggs's frustrations with Bills

A recent report explained why tension is brewing between wide receiver Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills.

"Diggs's frustration is with his role in the offense and his voice in play-calling," wrote Ben Volin of The Boston Globe. "He was visibly agitated at (quarterback Josh) Allen during the 27-10 playoff loss to the Bengals, stormed out of the locker room immediately after the game and didn't attend any voluntary workouts this offseason."

Diggs also wasn't at mandatory mini-camp on Tuesday, and Bills head coach Sean McDermott said he was "very concerned" about his absence. However, Diggs reported to mini-camp on Wednesday, and McDermott said he excused Diggs from practice since "we all needed a break and some space."

McDermott might be trying to diffuse a situation within the locker room. Allen hinted that he's trying to mend his relationship with Diggs. "Internally, we're working on some things, not football related," Allen said in a Tuesday news conference. "There are things I could do better to help out with this process and try to get him back here."

Even though Diggs logged 108 receptions for 1,429 yards and 11 touchdowns, the Bills used him less at the end of last season. During its final five games, Buffalo targeted the WR 35 times compared to 119 through its first 12 weeks. Diggs only had four receptions for 35 yards in the playoff loss to the Bengals.

The Bills are a legitimate Super Bowl contender, but friction with a star player can ruin a team. They must reach a compromise with the three-time Pro Bowler, and they must do it sooner rather than later.
