Reports: Raiders cut safety Damarious Randall despite guaranteed deal

The Las Vegas Raiders didn't view the $1.5 million in fully guaranteed money owed to safety Damarious Randall as enough of a reason to keep the 28-year-old on the final roster.

ESPN's Paul Gutierrez wrote on Friday afternoon that with 2019 first-round pick Johnathan Abram and other younger options on the roster, Las Vegas has cut ties with Randall. The 28-year-old played for the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 and 2019 seasons and, theoretically, should be an inexpensive addition for a club in need of help and depth at the position less than two weeks before the season's opening weekend.

As noted by NFL.com, some of the money Las Vegas owes Randall will be offset if he joins another team.

The Raiders are expected to go with Erik Harris, Lamarcus Joyner and Jeff Heath in Randall's place.

Meanwhile, former Las Vegas safety Karl Joseph signed a one-year contract with the Browns during the spring.
