The Los Angeles Rams are signing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports Friday.

Garoppolo, 32, will serve as the backup to Matthew Stafford in 2024 after he serves a two-game suspension for performance-enhancing substances.

Garoppolo spent last year with the Las Vegas Raiders after six seasons with San Francisco. He was benched after Josh McDaniels was fired as the Raiders' head coach on Nov. 1, save for a spot appearance in which he had one incomplete pass and a sack in the team's season finale against the Denver Broncos on Jan. 7.

Over seven games (six starts) in 2023, Garoppolo completed 65.1 percent of his throws for 1,205 yards with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.

In February, Garoppolo was assessed a two-game ban to start 2024, reportedly for using a prescribed medication without having a valid therapeutic use exemption from the league. The Raiders released Garoppolo on Wednesday.

Across a 10-year career with the New England Patriots (2014-16), Niners (2017-22) and Raiders, Garoppolo has completed 67.4 percent of his throws for 15,494 yards, 94 touchdowns and 51 interceptions.

The Rams at times have employed John Wolford, Stetson Bennett and Baker Mayfield as a No. 2 quarterback in recent seasons.
