Richard Sherman calls out Russell Wilson's performance

Former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, providing postgame analysis for Prime Video, laid into Broncos quarterback and former teammate Russell Wilson following another poor performance in the team's 12-9 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

"On the final play, you gotta run the ball," began Sherman in his fiery postgame thoughts. Wilson had a disastrous end to the game, first throwing an interception on a third down deep in Colts' territory while up 9-6 in the fourth quarter. The interception led to Colts' game-tying field goal, and then after the Broncos' defense held the Colts to a field goal on the first drive of overtime, to end the game Wilson threw an incomplete pass on fourth-and-one to seal the victory for the Colts.

"Run the dang ball! Like, learn from your mistakes," said Sherman, alluding to Wilson throwing an interception at the goal line in the 2015 Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

Speaking from personal experience, Sherman said sequences such as those result in "shock" for a defense. "This is when doubts start to creep in," he said.

"Denver Broncos defense ... you played a heck of a game. You deserved to win," Sherman said, placing the blame solely on Wilson and the Broncos' offense.

As Wilson's former teammate and someone directly affected by that Super Bowl heartbreak years ago, his comments show that the wounds from that loss haven't healed all these years later.

It's also the latest and most vocal criticism of Wilson as he struggles to find his footing in Denver.

The Broncos fell to 2-3 with the loss, the offense averaging a shockingly low 15 points per game.

Thursday night marked a low point for Wilson and the Broncos, with Wilson delivering his lowest passer rating of the season at 54.9. Fans were even seen leaving the game despite the game tied 9-9 and heading to overtime.

As noteworthy as Sherman's statements were, the best summary of the night came from co-analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick.

"There's some bad football being played right now," he said. "And I think it was on display tonight."
