The road to becoming a head coach in the NFL is a grueling one. Coaches usually start as quality control coaches, or something of that nature, then work into position groups, coordinator positions, and eventually head coach. However, once those coaches are fired, they usually become position coaches again, but need to re-work their way to the top.

In the case of former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy, it appears that cycle is beginning for him. After being let go roughly one year ago, along with then GM Ryan Pace, Nagy took the QB coach position with his mentor Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, it appears their is interest for Nagy to return to a coordinator position.

A pair of Kansas City coaches in the form of Nagy and Chiefs' offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy are drawing interest from the Tennessee Titans, who have a vacant OC position. Although Bieniemy making a lateral movement makes little sense, Nagy receiving a promotion is likely a desired move for him, especially if he can turn around what has been an underwhelming offense outside of Derrick Henry in Nashville.

Although young coaches and up-and-coming names are the fad, having an experienced name in a coordinator position is still desirable. Doug Pederson in his second stint as a head coach led the Jacksonville Jaguars to their first playoff win since 2017. For the Titans, it appears they're willing to give Matt Nagy another chance to oversee the offense and help the Titans regain relevance in the AFC South. Nagy's name is one to watch as coordinator positions get filled this offseason.
