Rob Gronkowski: Tom Brady 'deserves to get slimed' over retirement saga

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady would probably like to see four-time Super Bowl champion tight end, good friend, and current free agent Rob Gronkowski back with the Buccaneers sooner than later as the G.O.A.T. pursues the eighth ring of his historic career.

Then again, Brady may want Gronkowski to keep his distance a little longer.

As Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post explained, Gronkowski is co-hosting Saturday’s Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards along with actress Miranda Cosgrove and told The Post he'd choose Brady over any other NFL player to be "slimed."

Brady famously announced his retirement from the league on Feb. 1 but then confirmed on March 13 that he was returning to the Buccaneers for at least one more season.

"I’ll have to go with Tom right now," Gronkowski said when asked about which player he'd select to be slimed. "All because he retired and then the debacle of coming right back and unretiring 40 days later, I think he deserves to get slimed for that retirement that he had."

Gronkowski has recently generated headlines on multiple occasions, first when he said he is "not ready to commit to the game of football right now," and then when he insisted Brady could keep playing for another six seasons or so.

"I feel like I can get ready at any time for football, like it’ll take me two weeks only, so, I’m not really worried about it," Gronkowski told The Post about his own future. "It’s just cool just to be doing other things and enjoying them."

Those words make it seem as if Gronkowski's "eventual" return to the Buccaneers is inevitable.
