Robert Griffin III blasts Rams: 'Allen Robinson is being criminally misused'

Allen Robinson was at one time one of the better wide receivers in the NFL. He put up a 1,400-yard, 16-touchdown campaign in his second season in the league, with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and put up two straight 1,000-plus yard seasons with the Chicago Bears in 2019 and 2020.

No, he's not the player he once was, but even last season, he caught 38 catches for 410 yards and a touchdown in just 12 games for Chicago.

With Odell Beckham Jr. getting injured in L.A.'s Super Bowl win and subsequently hitting free agency, it seemed as if Robinson was a smart pickup for the Rams this offseason. They even gave him a three-year, $46.5 million contract for his trouble.

That contract has arguably been the highlight of Robinson's L.A. career, though. Sure, he caught a touchdown in Week 3's win over the Atlanta Falcons, but other than that, Matthew Stafford has barely looked his way.

In fact, in L.A.'s most recent loss, a 24-9 to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, Robinson was targeted six times (a season-high) but he came away with only two catches for seven yards.

In a game in which Cooper Kupp was targeted 19 times — albeit for 14 catches and 122 yards — it was evident that L.A. could have used more of Robinson on Monday. That prompted Robert Griffin III, former Heisman Trophy-winner-turned hilarious football analyst, to say this about Robinson and the Rams:

Robinson has been targeted just 18 times this season, meaning that he's averaging just 4.5 targets per game. Even worse, he's only caught nine of those targets. That's good (or bad) for just 2.3 catches per game.

Something needs to change in Los Angeles.
