Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

Naming teams Tom Brady could come back and play for has become something of a pastime for fans and even some NFL analysts. Robert Griffin III, however, might have the most ridiculous suggestion of all.

In an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up!”, Griffin suggested Brady could return and play for the Indianapolis Colts if he decides to make a comeback. He cited the fact that the Colts have a quarterback need and a solid offensive core in place as well as the fact that they play indoors.

There is just one problem with Griffin’s idea, as he acknowledges. Brady would have to get over Deflategate. The Colts were the team that first complained to the NFL about Brady’s alleged use of deflated footballs, which sparked the entire saga. There have been some indications that the Patriots, at least, still hold a grudge against the Colts over that. As of 2015, Brady’s father did as well.

Perhaps time has healed some wounds, but that is unlikely. Considering how much the scandal affected Brady, the chances of him ever suiting up for the Colts, even if he did come back, have to be very low. Besides, there isn’t really any reason to think Brady is prepping for a comeback when he’s already setting up some post-retirement career plans. He says he is retired, and it may be best to just take him at his word.
