Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson is already building a strong relationship with quarterback Russell Wilson. In an interview with Steelers reporter Missi Matthews, Roman Wilson revealed what he likes about the Super Bowl champion quarterback.

“He’s just a great guy,” Wilson said. “One thing that stood out is he’s just ready to get to work man. I think he’s ready to prove a lot of people wrong.”

Wilson was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft after having a standout career at Michigan. He’s expected to be a top target for Russell Wilson who signed with the Steelers this offseason. When the star QB learned about the Steelers drafting Roman Wilson he went to social media to write “ROMAN!!!”

Mike Tomlin also loves the work ethic of Russell Wilson

Along with Roman Wilson, Russell Wilson will have some solid targets to throw to this fall, including George Pickens, Van Jefferson and Scotty Miller. And like Roman Wilson, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin loves Russel Wilson’s work ethic.

“I think probably the most attractive component of his profile to me is his quest for greatness, his chase for legacy,” Tomlin said, per Steelers.com. “This is not a guy who is hungry, meaning that he can be satisfied. This is a guy that’s driven and you want to work with people who have that mindset. This guy’s got a vision of what he wants his career to look like. And he’s got a lot of work to do. Obviously, he’s had some professional challenges, particularly in recent years, and he appears to be a guy that wants to meet those challenges head on and continue to move forward with his career, and that was attractive.”

When Wilson signed with the Steelers, he explained why he joined the team. “The reason I wanted to come here is because I wanted to win championships with Coach (Mike) Tomlin and the guys in the locker room,” he said, per Steelers.com. “We got some amazing players, guys like Cam Heyward, a guy who has been (Walter Payton) Man of the Year, a guy who has impacted so many. Got to talk to him for a little while during this process.  And then obviously Mr. T.J. Watt himself. Really should be defensive player, I don’t know how many times, maybe third, fourth time could have won it. Just tremendous athlete, player, competitor.

“Guys like Minkah (Fitzpatrick), George Pickens, and just so many other great players along the way. Got to see some guys like (Pat) Freiermuth and (Isaac) Seumalo in there. Great place to be.”
