The last time that the Baltimore Ravens clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, they ended up coming away from the season with a sour taste in their mouths.
The Ravens secured the top spot in the AFC standings in the 2019 season. They finished regular season play with a 14-2 record, and they went on to host the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round. Not much went Baltimore’s way in the contest, as the Titans pulled off a 28-12 win to advance to the AFC title game.
Ronnie Stanley starred for the Ravens in the 2019 campaign, and he came away with plenty of learning lessons from the season.
"That was a huge learning experience for a lot of us," Stanley said ahead of the Ravens' home game against the Los Angeles Rams. "A lot of those guys [from the 2019 team] are still on this team. We know what that felt like to kind of be riding the high road in the regular season and then, getting to the playoffs, and it means nothing what you did in the regular season.
"We know we still have the end goal in mind, that being the Super Bowl, so from here on out, every game is like a playoff game to us. Every game is a must-win."
The Ravens are vying to finish the year with the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The Ravens and the Dolphins each hold a 9-3 record, but it is Miami that currently sits atop the conference standings due to the best win percentage in conference games tiebreaker.
The Ravens are aiming to pick up a win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14 to remain well in the mix for the top spot in the conference.
